Most, if not all, game players love fancy items, regardless of what they are. In Guild Wars 2 (GW2), there are several fancy items available for its players to enjoy, and they include weapons, gears, mounts, etc.
The griffon mount is an example of the mounts available in the game; it is a glorious and noble beast. It is also a secret mount that can fly and travel rapidly, although you can only mount it for a limited period.
To unlock the griffon mount in GW2, you have to complete the Path of Fire storyline as well as a set of collections. Also, you need a springer mount with the high vault mastery, which will come in handy during quests. Furthermore, you have to pay up to 250 gold to heart vendors so that you can unlock the mount. This is because you have to pay 25 gold for each quest, of which there are 10 in total.
Unlocking the Griffon Mount GW2
To begin unlocking the griffon mount, you have to start from the Vehtendi Academy Waypoint, located in the Domain of Vabbi. To discover this place, head to the Southeastern part of the map and follow the path. Eventually, you will come across a jackal portal. If you possess the Jackal Mastery Rank 3 ability, create a shortcut to travel to the other side. Otherwise, jump down and vault to the safe bubble on the other side with the springer high vault.
Subsequently, climb the ledges and the purple crystalline mountain with your springer mount to the next safe zone at the top. After that, proceed to the Griffon Sanctuary, where you have to interact with the Remains of the Last Spearmarshal. This will enable you to unlock the collection. Also, you’ll be given the Spearmarshal’s Plea here, which you can use to teleport the Spearmarshal’s remains at a later time.
The seven collections you have to complete by collecting their numerous relics and snatching griffon eggs are the following:
- Open Skies: Crystal Oasis
- Open Skies: Desert Highlands
- Open Skies: Elon Riverlands
- Open Skies: The Desolation
- Open Skies: Domain of Vabbi
- Open Skies: Sunspear Wisdom
- Open Skies: On Wings and a Pray
When you finally beat the boss in the final collection, you’ll be rewarded with a Griffon mount. However, you still have to completely level up the Griffon mount before you can ride it.
It is worthy of note that you can’t complete these seven collections in a day because they are very long. However, if you are an excellent GW2 player, you should be able to complete it in less than a week. You should also know that completing these collections is not about time; rather it is about effort. This is because you have to travel around completing missions and searching for relics and griffon eggs.
Griffon Masteries
Before you can completely level up the Griffon mount, you have to use 12 Path of Fire Mastery points.
Level 1: Soaring Rescue
This mastery enables you to unlock the ability to mount the beast in midair. When you are in the air, use the mount hotkey to jump onto the Griffon mount. You need 3 Path of Fire Mastery points to unlock this mastery.
Level 2: Aerial Prowess
This level enables you to master the swoop attack, which allows you to dive towards the ground and fight the enemies below you. Use the backward-movement key binds or the movement ability 2 to direct your momentum upwards to engage in a swoop attack. However, ensure you have a substantial diving speed. You need 4 Path of Fire Mastery points to unlock this mastery.
Level 3: Aerial Finesse
This level enables you to master the speed boost Wing Flap ability. The Wing Flap allows you to gain a burst of speed in any direction of your choice. You can use this skill while diving by pulling up. You need 5 Path of Fire Mastery points to unlock this mastery.
It is worthy of note that mounts are a part of the Path of Fire expansion pack. Hence, you can’t acquire them if you don’t have Path of Fire.
